Drain your energy

Today I wanted to talk about things that can drain your energy. We all have those days where we just feel tired or exhausted for absolutely no reason. We all have the days where we feel great until we bump into a friend or family member and after just ten minutes we feel drained and like we just want to go back to bed. What we aren’t aware of is that there are things that drain our energy and leave us feeling run down, tired, unmotivated, and so on. This is the topic I want to address today but before I can do that, there are some questions that need to be asked.

Are you aware of what drains your energy?

Most people are familiar with the things I have mentioned above; the people who drain your energy, the everyday stresses and struggles, but there is more. Below is a list of questions that you can ask yourself so that you are clear on exactly what is draining your energy.

How many things are you putting up with?
What you need to do with this question is actually sit down and make a list. Have you go more than 10, 20, 50 even? Over a period of a couple of days, a lot of people will find that they can actually come up with 100 things or more. These are the things that they are putting up with in life. These are the things that are draining their energy.

What choices are you making in relation to how you use your time and who you spend time with?
Do your choices reflect your priorities?
Again this is an excellent question to ask. A lot of time you might find that you are spending time with people out of obligation and not because you want to. You put off doing what is important to you in favour of what other people want. Make a list of all the things and people that are important to you. Make sure you put yourself first on the list because after all, you are the most important person and spending time on and with yourself should always be a priority. What this question is going to help with is seeing where you need to make changes and where you need to take back your own power and say no.

Does your environment remind you of what you feel most passionate about, or is it full of things that used to interest you?
If the environment that surrounds you doesn’t match your vibration and what you are interested in, it can be very draining on your energy. In order to fix this maybe some re-decorating is in order which leads to the next question.

Do you have a least one room in your home that feels inspiring to you?
Is it so inspiring/relaxing/comfortable that you can’t wait to be in there?
As teenagers, most of us had our own rooms, our sanctuary from the outside world. When you become an adult and decide to share your life with someone, you can often lose this. Throw in some children and that sanctuary and me time can almost disappear. In my old house, my kitchen was my sanctuary. I had chosen a lovely wallpaper for the living area of the room and it was so peaceful to sit here. You could get lost in your thoughts and everyone who came into my home admired it. This was my sanctuary especially during the day when my husband was out at work and the kids were in school. Having a room that inspires and relaxes you helps to boost your energy levels and make you feel good.

If your home is filled with stress this will also drain your energy so this is another thing to be aware of. It ties in with the paragraph above and is all about making sure your home is a happy home and one that feels relaxed and welcoming.

As you can see from all these questions, there is a lot more that can drain your energy. Essentially though, all of this boils down to stress and what we talked about earlier in the week; relaxation and self-esteem. If you have high self-esteem and self-confidence, you will be in control of your time and who you spend it with. You won’t waste your time out of feelings of obligation because you will be strong enough to say no and put your priorities first.

What are your thoughts on this? Have you discovered another reason for why you feel tired and drained lately? Do you have other tips and suggestions on how to combat it? Please feel free to share in the comments below.

Until next time,

Amanda
