I’m so thrilled to be part of the If Sin Dwells Deep blog tour. First off, I want to thank David for asking me to review his latest masterpiece, and for all you fantasy fans out there, get ready for an epic adventure through the dreamscape that you won’t want to end. Below is the cover and blurb for the latest instalment in the Soul Sleep Cycle, If Sin Dwells Deep and it is available now.
If Sin Dwells Deep by David Michael Williams
Even good girls have secrets.
When straight-laced Allison sleeps, the rebellious goddess Syn wakes. Having a fling in the dreamscape may seem like harmless fun, but when a sadistic predator learns her true identity, the fantasy begins to bleed into real life.
If Sin Dwells Deep — a parallel novel to If Souls Can Sleep — exposes the hidden world of dream drifters and explores the war between gifted government agents and those who would use their abilities to corrupt life, death, and that which lies beyond.
If Sin Dwells Deep – My Review
Having read and loved book 1, If Souls Can Sleep, I was thrilled when author David Michael Williams asked if I would be interested in reading and reviewing book 2, If Sin Dwells Deep. If you haven’t read book 1, I highly recommend it. You can read my review of it here.
Straight off this book had me hooked. The prologue alone was disturbing, intriguing, and I was sucked in. The author has an amazing use of words and his characters are so real and vivid that you almost feel like you are living inside the story. To me, this is always the sign of a great book.
If Sin Dwells Deep focuses on different characters than the first book, and the story revolves around the Valhalla Project. Syn, Allison in the waking world is the focus of the book, but Milton, Vincent, Leah, and the other characters we met in book 1 also make an appearance. This book is dark and gory in part, twisted and yet one I loved. The dreamscape becomes more real than in book one and with a wolf predator out to get Syn and destroy her, the reader becomes immersed in this new world.
This book has me guessing and trying to figure out who the traitor and wolf was throughout out, but I never saw it coming. Again another sign of a great writer. This book has a bit of everything including romance between Syn and Heimdall, a mission to find Milton, and so much more. From start to finish there is action, adventure, horror, anticipation, and I found myself gasping more than once.
This book has so much going on and the undertones and mythology are intricately woven into the story to create a world that becomes real. It leaves you with questions about lucid dreaming and plenty of what ifs. If fantasy, mythology, and a gripping read are what you are after, The Soul Sleep Cycle series is a must read. There is a book 3 to come and I can’t wait to read this and see what Annette is really up to and how Project Valhalla is going to stop her. If Dreams Can Die is book three and when it releases, you can be sure I’ll be getting my hands on a copy.
If Sin Dwells Deep is available for pre-order now and will release on the 27th of September in ebook followed by the paperback version.
Until next time,
Keep reading and writing,
