Wattpad has a global community of 70 million readers and writers. That’s a lot and I thought I’d try a little experiment. As you probably already know, Wattpad is a free platform where you can post your work in progress or complete novel and let readers enjoy it for free. Yes, FREE. You can post chapter by chapter and the great thing about it is reader feedback if things work out.
Some Wattpad Statistics
According to Wattpad themselves, more than 70 per cent of their users are female and 80 per cent are millennials or generation Z. The number of minutes that users spend on the site per month is 22 billion and the average amount of time each user spends on the site per month is 274 minutes. YA is the most popular and if you are writing for this audience, then you could possibly find your readers here.
My Wattpad Experiment
I’m getting ready to start writing Choices, book 2 in my Cursed Angels Duet. Visions, book 1, is complete but as it ends on a cliffhanger, I thought it would be a good idea to use this for my Wattpad experiment. Each week I plan to upload a new chapter to the site and hopefully gain readers before I publish it on Amazon.
Whether it will work or not, I have no idea, but I will keep everyone updated on my progress as the experiment plays out. There are 21 chapters in total and with one being added every week, that gives me plenty of time and information to see how this works. I’d post regular updates and hopefully, the results will be positive.
What I hope to Achieve
My main goal for this experiment is to attract new readers and get people following my work. It is not about making money, or anything else.
I hope you’ll all visit my Wattpad profile and follow along with this experiment.
Until next time,
Keep reading and writing
