Keep Fit Tips for Writers

Today I want to offer some keep fit tips for writers. I love writing, but there is a downfall and that is that fact that most of the time I’m sitting down. Sitting down, of course, means not moving about, burning off calories, or keeping my body flexible. It’s the bane of many writers and when you add my major sweet tooth into the equation, the weight has been slowing creeping up since over the past couple of years.

Holidays, Realisations, and What’s Coming Next

I’m back after the most amazing holiday to Cyprus to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary and recreate some of the memories. It was a little different not having small children with us this time around but I have to say, holidaying with teens is a lot more fun and relaxing. I really didn’t want to come home to Ireland and the rain.

Agent Queries and Realisations

Last week I sent out my first agent query for Winterland and while it was nerve-wracking, it was also exciting. It was the moment I’d been waiting for, building up towards, and something I’d put off too. Winterland, my new fantasy romance novel, was completed back in November 2018 and after editing and polishing it – attending the Finish Your Novel course with Conor Kostick and the Edit Your Novel course with Brian Langan, I had no excuses left. It was now or never.

I’m Doing A Wattpad Experiement

Wattpad has a global community of 70 million readers and writers. That’s a lot and I thought I’d try a little experiment. As you probably already know, Wattpad is a free platform where you can post your work in progress or complete novel and let readers enjoy it for free. Yes, FREE. You can post chapter by chapter and the great thing about it is reader feedback if things work out.

Writing can be a lonely endeavour, all those hours spent typing and telling the story you hope to see in print someday. I’ve heard it said so many times that finding your writing tribe, but I never truly appreciated what that meant until I found mine.

My Writing Goals For 2019

You may or may not be someone who enjoys setting writing goals, but I love them. I especially love reading back over them at the end of the year to see how I’ve done. My writing goals for 2019 are similar to those I set in 2018 but I hope to achieve some if not all of them.Writing Goals

A Bowl of Irish Stew – Promoting Mental Health @BowlOIrishStew @CookingStew #mentalhealth #ABOIS4Pieta #PutMentalHealthFirst

A Bowl of Irish Stew is a new anthology of stories written to bring hope and comfort to those grieving or suffering from mental health. This new initiative is the brainchild of Gary Rutherford and one I am honoured to be a part of. The book’s subtitle is “Stories Combined in a Meal for the Mind” and it’s perfect.
